FAQ
Questions we would rather answer in public.
Pricing, ownership, the stack, and how personalization fits. If your question is not here, the contact form is.
Who owns Black Box Site Design?
Neil Black owns Black Box Site Design. He is a digital analytics and platform leader with a data warehouse engineering background. The studio designs and builds websites. Black Box Personalization is the product company in the family.
How is Black Box Personalization related?
Black Box Personalization is a Black Box Site Design company. It is the personalization and analytics arm. This website is the parent. The product itself lives at blackboxpersonalization.com, including a public lab.
What work can I look at?
The published case is Black Box Personalization, our product company. The work page also includes sample studies of other briefs. Cards marked Sample are there to show the shape of a quote.
How do you price a project?
We do not publish a rate card. After a working session we send a written scope, a price, and what is out of scope. The quote wizard asks for the budget you have in mind so we can say whether the scope fits.
What do you build with?
Marketing and product sites are usually Next.js and TypeScript, deployed on Vercel. If a project needs a different stack, that is part of the written scope. You own the repository at handoff.
Can you add personalization to a site you already have?
Yes, when the page and the rules are worth it. The product is Black Box Personalization. This studio can design the page and integrate the product. The labs on the personalization site show how the signals work.
How long does a site take?
It depends on pages, content, and integrations. We put a timeline in the proposal. We do not promise one duration for every project.
Will you guarantee a Lighthouse score?
We design toward the public Core Web Vitals thresholds and WCAG 2.2 AA. A score also depends on content, images, and tags you ask us to add. We will say so in the scope instead of promising a number we do not control.
